Erickson's Strap Trap holds the excess web not being used by simply clamping it into the ratchet handle so it can't blow in the wind.
the clamping mechanism is much like a mouse trap, lift the spring loaded clamp and place the folded webbing under the clamp,
release the strap trap and you have trapped the excess web.
